Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze: 1) A description of organizational culture and
employee performance in Kantor Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) unit Marihat Pematangsiantar. 2) The
influence of organizational culture on employee performance in Kantor Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS)
unit Marihat Pematangsiantar. This research was held by using qualitative decriptive analyze method and
quantitative decriptive analyze. The population that used in this research were 237 employees of Kantor Pusat
Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) unit Marihat Pematangsiantar with the slovin’s formula the total sample be 150
employees. The independent variable in this research is the organizational culture, and the dependent variable is
the performance of the employee. Data was collected by using interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The
technique of analyzing the data is by using simple linear regression, correlation coefficient of determination and
t-test.
The results of the research can be concluded as: 1) Employees stated that organizational culture was
good and employee performance in high categorize. 2) The results of the regression analyze are Ŷ = 14,288 +
0,743X, there was positive influence of organizational culture on employee performance. 3) The results of the
analyze obtained correlation r value of = 0,690 means that there is a strong and positive relationship between
the culture of the organization and the performance of employees Kantor Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS)
unit Marihat Pematangsiantar. High to low of employee performance can be explained by the organizational
culture of 47.5%. 4) T-test H0 is rejected and Ha accepted, that mean organizational culture positive effect and
significant on the performance of the employees in Kantor Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) unit Marihat
Pematangsiantar.
The advice from the research concludes that to improve the organizational culture, the leadership
becomes a motivator in the implementation of the order of organization and further improve its oversight of
employee discipline. In order for the employee's performance can be improved then given strict sanctions to
employees who are lazy to attend to the office. It is expected that sanctions can provide a deterrent effect to the
employee and can be an example for other employees.
